INDIA TODAY: The Purification of Sexual Darkness and the Empowerment of Women
India today is going through an inner revolution, a transformation of long-standing attitudes of rejection of women’s right to equality, now being addressed through the revelation of the dark side of India’s past, a past that has included abuse or indifference to the right of women to respect, honoring, equal protection under the law, and to the full honoring of their bodies as sacred, not as objects to be used, sexually, through the will and power-seeking motives of others.
The purification of sexual darkness takes place in India in such a pronounced way, today, because India’s moral and spiritual heritage is exactly opposite to the drama of darkness and abuse now being played out on the world stage. India’s spirituality is deeply respectful of the female body and of the female person, deeply honoring and reverent. Such attitudes of respect and reverence have a long history and proceed from ancient times. And so it is all the more necessary that that which is unclean and incompatible with the sacred holding of the female person and female body be rooted out and dispelled, eliminating it from wherever it has influenced consciousness so that it no longer aligns with the sacred.
The roots of India’s spirituality are deep in honoring of the Mother, shakti, the Divine feminine creative power. India’s spirituality is deeply embedded in this inner knowing, in this inner honoring, and so her blatant mistreatment of these ethical, moral, and spiritual values are rushing to the surface now in the presence of expanding light, creating events and responses in her population in order that this contradiction, this separation from the sacred feminine be revealed.
Those who have witnessed the horrifying acts of brutality to women in recent months, including, most recently, the deliberate harm to a five year old girl, cannot but be shocked and wonder how such things could come to be.
India, in her true spiritual, moral, and ethical foundation is on the rise. She is rising from her ancient roots to make a place for herself in today’s modern world, a place that has been given to the secular and to that which rejects the sacred as the nation has become more modern and more industrialized. This place is being reclaimed now through the process of collective purification, and through the rooting out of the darkness latent in her consciousness and history so that only light remains.
We bless this great emergence of India’s past, and grieve for the painful events that are the steps by which this reunion is taking place, for these events are truly painful to both individuals and to the nation as a whole. And we pray that India’s essentially spiritual nature shall make itself felt increasingly all through the land, and that the Divine Feminine which has been so much a part of her ancient history, shall become part of her modern history as well.
