PARIS
(Following the terrorist attacks in Paris on Nov. 13, 2015)
This poem, written following the terrorist attacks in Paris on November 13, 2015, seeks to bring an end to darkness that breeds violence and that separates embodied souls from their humanity and from their own heart.
------------------------------
Grieve, grieve, for the agony of Paris,
for the innocent ones drinking coffee in their cafes,
and for the darkened ones whose mind takes over their will,
allowing what is wrong to be perceived as right.
Grieve, grieve, for the victims of horror,
and for those who perpetrate it as well.
For the first have lost their limbs and their lives,
while the second have lost the open road
to their heart and soul.
Grieve, grieve, for those who believe they
act in the name of the One
while desecrating that very name.
For their actions are betrayal
and their belief illusion,
and the comfort of feeling 'righteous'
will soon be removed from them
as they come to face the true scales of justice.
Grieve, grieve, for the violence that grows
upon the land,
for this violence is fueled by a darkness that
few have known,
and pray for the healing of that which fosters this violence,
that the light may come
and extinguish it at its source,
so that peace can come to the Earth at last.
