Beloved Children of the Light,
Affirmations and the Unconscious Mind
While it is true that ‘beliefs shape reality,’ it is also true that beliefs are more than just what we think with our conscious minds. They are that, but they are also the primary, undisclosed substrata of our way of being in life.

Affirmations are positive statements of purpose, belief, and knowledge, that aim to shift our identity in the direction of greater truth. Instead of remaining embedded within the personal/emotional level of perception, affirmations allow us to raise our awareness to a new and different perspective, requiring a shift of consciousness on all levels in order to be effective.
The range of effectiveness of affirmations such as: “I am of the light;” “I am a pure and blameless child of God;” “I am love and I am peace;” and “I am the victory of light over darkness” – depends upon whether these are met with the resistance of counter-beliefs – beliefs and energies in the unconscious mind that do not hold the affirmation to be true, but rather hold something else to be true. When this division of the psyche occurs, it is possible for an affirmation repeated regularly to filter down from the conscious to the unconscious mind, thereby influencing the subcurrents of belief and perception that govern our daily life. It is also possible that affirmations will not be able to take effect until the unconscious layer of resistance is dealt with in a more open way so that it no longer presents a barrier to the presence of a new truth taking hold.
Often, it is best to work from both sides at the same time – to hold positive, light-filled thoughts in our conscious awareness, repeating some of these by deliberate intent where needed. At the same time, it is important to recognize the dis-belief in which the affirmation may be held by another part of ourselves, and to allow purification of the unconscious to do its work. The process of purification, activated by the force of light, will, in the presence of spiritual light, separate out the negative beliefs, exposing them to the light of day so that they can be seen more clearly.
When individuals find that affirmations have not been greatly effective, it is often because the unconscious layer of thought and motivation has not been exposed fully, and as a result, resistance is acting in a hidden way. For this reason, one must be courageous and scrupulous about uncovering hidden disbelief, doubt, and resistance, so that once having been exposed, it can influence our consciousness less.
While it is true that ‘beliefs shape reality,’ it is also true that beliefs are more than just what we think with our conscious minds. They are that, but they are also the primary, undisclosed substrata of our way of being in life that we may take for granted and that we may not be able to articulate for ourselves. Inviting God’s light to do its work of purifying the total self, including the conscious and unconscious mind, is of great value and importance in making the consciousness shift that is trying to happen at this time. God’s light is affecting every soul on Earth and is strengthening on a daily basis. By inviting it into our consciousness and hearts, we make possible the next steps, both internally and externally, for the creation of a new reality.
